Appointment Setter/Lead Generation Role
Appointment Setter/Lead Generation – US company
Appointment Setter (Cold Calling) – Biotech & Life Sciences Lead Generation
Science2Sales | Remote (South Africa) | Part-Time Contractor (potential to scale)
About Science 2 Sales
We’re a specialized lead generation agency exclusively serving companies selling into the biotech and life sciences space across North America and Europe. We help these innovative companies connect with decision-makers through strategic outreach – across cold email, cold calling, and LinkedIn.
About the Role
We’re looking for a conversational, resilient cold caller & appointment setter to book qualified meetings for our clients. You’ll be speaking with a whole range of people within the life sciences and biotech space – including but not limited to scientists, laboratory managers, research directors, manufacturing and engineering personnel, and business/operations executives – asking qualifying questions, understanding their challenges, and setting up next-step conversations for our clients.
This is a pure appointment setting – you’re opening doors, not closing deals. But you need to sound credible when talking to technical buyers in the life sciences space.
What You’ll Actually Do Every Day
- Make 100-200+ outbound calls daily to qualified prospects in North America and Europe
- Have real conversations with scientific and technical professionals using our frameworks (not rigid scripts)
- Ask qualifying questions to understand prospect needs and challenges
- Book qualified meetings for our clients’ sales teams
- Log all call activity and outcomes in our CRM system
- Provide feedback on what’s working, what objections you’re hearing, and market insights
- Participate in coaching sessions to improve your approach and results
You’re a Great Fit If:
- You’re comfortable thinking on your feet – every conversation is different, you can adapt while staying on message
- You’re resilient – 90%+ of calls will be rejections/voicemails, and that doesn’t faze you
- You’re naturally conversational – you can build quick rapport with strangers over the phone
- You can quickly learn technical terminology and sound credible when speaking with scientists and lab professionals (science background helpful but not required)
- You’re coachable – you take feedback well and continuously improve your approach
- You’re self-directed – once trained, you can manage your own calling time and hit activity targets without constant check-ins
- You’re available during business hours for both European and North American markets – this will likely fall between 12-8pm South Africa time.
This Role Is NOT For You If:
- You need a word-for-word script and can’t improvise
- You take rejection personally or get discouraged easily
- You’re looking for a “closer” role (this is appointment setting, not deal closing)
- You prefer working with constant supervision rather than autonomously
What You DON’T Need:
- Sales experience (though it helps)
- Deep scientific expertise (we’ll teach you the terminology and talking points)
- Previous cold calling experience (we’ll train you, but you need the right personality)
Ideal Background:
- Recent graduate or early career professional (any field – science/technical background is a plus)
- Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly and communicate them clearly
- Comfortable speaking English professionally (you’ll be talking to North American/European audiences)
- Note: We’ll assess your ability to learn biotech terminology and have credible conversations through role-play scenarios during the interview process
What We Offer:
- Hourly rate: USD $10.50/hour – R172/ hour
- Flexible part-time hours: Starting ~15-20 hours per week (can scale based on client load and performance)
- Paid training: Comprehensive onboarding on our clients, industry, and calling approach
- Growth opportunity: Potential to take on more responsibility (account management, campaign strategy) as we scale
- Tools provided: Dedicated calling platform, phone number, lead lists, CRM access, calling frameworks
- Work remotely: Manage your own schedule within target market business hours
- Learn B2B sales: Gain real-world experience in the high-growth biotech and life science industry
Work Schedule
- Part-time: ~15-20 hours per week to start
- Must be available to work hours that overlap both North American and Europe (likely 12-8pm South African local time) – flexible scheduling within those windows
- Independent contractor position with potential to scale
How You’ll Be Set Up for Success
- Comprehensive onboarding covering client products, target personas, and calling methodology
- Pre-qualified lead lists with contact information
- Calling frameworks and qualification criteria (not rigid scripts)
- Dedicated calling platform (you won’t use your personal phone)
- CRM training and time-tracking setup
- Regular coaching and feedback to improve your results
- Direct access to our founder for questions and support
